Bully ~ Graphic Design`Submission
Well, I got my idea for a graphic design idea from a picture that I saw on Google, I knew I wanted to do something similar to it but I had no idea where to start. So I went on Youtube and searched text portrait and I clicked on the best suited one for my idea. The video said that you needed Gimp 2.8 so once I got gimp installed I started thinking of different sad or frustrated pictures that make it look like the person is being bullied. I started taking random pictures of my friend but the pictures were just not working out. So one day I was still taking pictures becoming very frustrated because the pictures were just not convincing and I couldn't get the right picture. Well my other friend saw me taking pictures and she wanted to try. At this point I was willing to try anything to get the right picture, so I told her to make it look like she was being bullied so she sat in a corner and put her head down and she looked so convincing that I just had to take a picture of her. After I took the picture and looked at it I was ecstatic because I finally took a picture that actually convinced me the person was receiving some type of harassment.
I opened up Gimp 2.8 on my Mac computer I was using and uploaded the picture that I was going to use. The video on Youtube told me everything I needed to do. First I right clicked the layer and choose duplicate layer. Next I went to colors at the top of the page, in the tool bar and clicked curves. After I picked the correct amount of contrast I needed I clicked on the new layer icon with the fill type of white. After the screen went completely white I clicked on the text tool and clicked and dragged from one side of the picture to the other to create a text box with the size of 90 so you could actually read the words. For the text I went to Google and looked up mean and hateful words that I could use. After I found all of the words that I was going to use I opened TextEdit and copy and pasted all of the words that I was using. I didn’t want people to just see the same words over and over in the same order so when I copy and pasted onto the actual picture I did it in a specific order so people don’t look for the same words over and over. After I pasted the words I went to layer > merge down, that made the text box on the same layer as the actually white layer. After I merged the layer down I changed the layer mode to screen. Next, I dragged the bottom layer to the top. I right clicked the top layer and choose add layer mask. Then, I initialized the layer mask to black (full transparency). After that I swapped the background and foreground colors. Then, I clicked the paintbrush tool and outlined and painted in the girls body in the picture. Finally, I set the layer mode to grain merge, and presto! My masterpiece was finished.

What is Leadership? ~ ePublishing
This was a great project that I was very intrigued in. I loved the steps I accomplished to succeed in this. I got the idea for a Graphic Design project because I wanted to think of a way to get a positive message out to students and adults, but I couldn’t quite think of what kind of message I wanted to give. Then I got an idea flowing on leadership because not everyone has the skills needed to be an exceptional leader.
I decided to start thinking what the main leadership qualities are. I wrote many down on a sheet of paper. I used a website called “Canva” that was easy to learn and got the job done very well! On this website you have so many options to choose from on how to make things such as flyers, presentations, posters, invitations, business cards, and even blog graphics. I decided to use the flyer option I had to add lines, subtract them, move them, and customize the flyer to the way I felt would show and pop out the message I wanted to share. They had so many formats I could choose from that was great because you just don’t have to stick with one option!
My next move was to add my words of a leader into my flyer. This took longer then I thought because it’s just not typing words. I needed to put them in certain spots that looks the best. After this I needed to add the title and what its all about.
Now we're getting closer to my final step but not quite there yet. I thought it looked good but it was too basic so I had an idea that would make it stand out more! I decided to add a picture in the background of two respectful students who are great leaders and know what leadership truly is. It really made it stand out more and made it look more like a better project.
My final step is right here in this paragraph. So after I added in my picture I just couldn’t leave it like this so I had to make sure my spelling of the words I chose were correct. I moved around words where you could see them better. I also had to check to make sure my picture was in a good spot and I didn’t have to worry about copyright issues because I took the picture myself. I felt like this was a very successful project that people will look up to and like and receive the message I’m trying to share!
